Contra Costa County
Contra Costa County is bordered on three sides by water and dominated in the middle by Mount Diablo, one of the highest peaks in the Bay Area. Contra Costa County used to be united with Alameda County until Alameda County split off on its own several years ago. There is still, however, much evidence of the previous unity: the East Bay Regional Park District serves both counties, as does the local bus service, AC Transit.
Our climate is typically dry and mild. Winter temperatures are rarely below freezing and when snow does appear (very rarely), it is confined to the top of Mt. Diablo and some of the taller foothills. Average annual rainfall is usually just under 30 inches. And except for a few summer days, humidity rarely discomforts anyone.
Each neighborhood in the East Bay has it's own special charms, it's own microclimate, and it's own unique personality. We urge you to browse through our list of communities, and find the one that is just right for you and your family! | |
